Description

An outstanding Victorian walnut pop‑up davenport with a rare piano‑style lifting top. Inside is the original tooled green leather adjustable writing surface, pen trays, ink compartment, and two small drawers that operate the hidden pop‑up mechanism. The rising section offers three small drawers and four pigeonholes.

To the right is a bank of four dovetailed drawers to the left, matching faux drawers, all with original turned handles. The beautifully carved scroll supports stand on a plinth base with carved bun feet, and the walnut veneers continue around the back, allowing the piece to stand freely in a room.

With wonderful colour, patina, and only minor age‑related wear, this is a superb, functional example of Victorian craftsmanship — a striking addition to any study or office.
