Description

A beautifully preserved chub, mounted in a traditional glass-fronted case with a painted green backdrop and naturalistic groundwork of reeds and grasses. This specimen was caught by Mr. T. Colley at Highley on the River Severn on August 11th, 1958, weighing 4 lbs. 5 ozs. The case features original period labels, including a printed note referencing the catch’s merit. The fish is skilfully mounted to highlight its natural shape and colouring, combining visual appeal with historical significance.

River Severn is a heavily fished stretch of river, where such a weight is considered a worthy achievement.

Here at Sinclair's Antiques and Interiors we do our utmost best to ensure all our items are described and photographed to show any flaws or damage such as shrinkage splits, losses or lifts to veneer, repairs or marks. However, giving the age and the fact that each piece will have had years of polishing to create its own individual character we cannot describe every minor mark separately and therefore recommend you either visit our warehouse or request extra photographs.
