Description

A superb example of Obrien’s self-closing till, crafted in rich mahogany with brass detailing in excellent condition. The internal mechanism is visible through a brass-framed glass panel, offering a glimpse into its ingenious design. The drawer is neatly compartmentalised for coins and notes, complete with brass bill clips. The back of the till bears a diamond-shaped label reading “O’Brien’s Self-Closing Till, Liverpool.” Inside the lid, original operating instructions remain intact, accompanied by a note from the previous owner, adding a personal touch to its provenance. Although the key is no longer present, the till remains a fascinating piece of commercial history, blending elegant craftsmanship with mechanical innovation.
