Description

Charming late 19thC century French bronze figure of a harvest putto after the sculptor, Claude Michel Clodion (1738-1814). Clodion popularised these figures during the late 18th/early 19th centuries and they continued to be produced until the late 19th century.
This figure dates from around 1870 and depicts a putto crowned with fruiting vines holding a sickle in one hand and a pole in the other supporting a bunch of grapes. Standing on it’s original red marble base.

In good condition with minimal surface wear commensurate with age and a few small nibbles to the edges of the marble.

Measures 21 cm high and weighs 1,536 grams.
