Pair of oak panels from a piece of furniture, Northern European.Dated by style and allegory to the late 16th Century.
Justice is shown holding a sword and the scales of justice.
Diligence is shown holding a spade and a hoe.
The phoenix above both, depicts the risen Christ, whilst the griffins on either side of the figures, represent the human and divine state.
47 x 23 cms.
Old worn and some lose at the bottom.
