Description
This is a typical Moonlit Dockside scene painted in oil on canvas by the artist Walter Linsley Meegan (1859-1944). It depicts the Landing Stage of the Mersey Ferry at night.Meegan was a painter of landscapes and moonlight scenes in oils. He studied at Leeds College of Art and became a pupil of John Atkinson Grimshaw. He painted views of Scarborough, Whitby and other docksides. His paintings were sometimes signed ‘Walter Linsley’, his mother’s maiden name.
