A Chinese silver powder compact from the early twentieth century. Very finely hammered on the front and back, and with initials M.de V.P. in the cartouche. Possibly for Mary the Countess of Oxford born 1895. It comes with a later brown cord, the original would most likely be silk. The mirror has blemishes around the circumference but is still useful. Inside are the makers or retailers Chinese characters. It weighs 50grams and is 2″ diameter by 3/8″ deep, smaller than English compacts.
