Description
Persian carpets made in the city of Mashad always impress with their striking patterns and well balanced colour palettes. Located in Iran's north-east, rugs & carpets from this region are predominately made in large sizes.This large Mashad carpet measures approximately 4 by 3 metres. Its traditional design conforms with the aesthetics found in floor coverings made in this important city. The centre of the carpet is dominated by a magnificent medallion and a symmetrical floral field framed by multiple borders. Tasteful colour combinations of deep red with navy, ivory and blue.
Woven into the border of this high quality carpet is discreet but distinctive Arabic script that reads Mohammadi. Signed Persian carpets, often marked with the name of the master weaver or workshop, guarantee the superior quality of a piece. It confirms the craftsmanship and superior materials that were used in the lengthy manufacturing process.
This vintage Mashad carpet was made during the 1950's or 1960's. It is hand knotted with a high quality wool on a cotton base. As this is a large piece this will have taken many months to complete. Carpets from the Mashad region are known to be extremely robust and enduring.

Transportation damage caused by our delivery partner must be reported within 48 hours. We will do our utmost to help with an agreeable solution for the encountered issue. Please note that we cannot accept the worn and used condition of our antiques and collectables as a reason for reporting a damaged item.

ConditionA fine Persian carpet that is in good condition. There are large areas of wear, in one or two places very heavy, in other areas a little less. No severe damage or holes. Age and usage have somewhat mellowed the colours, and created the Country House look that is so desirable for many of our customers. The fringes have suffered from foot traffic and cleaning over the years.
