Description

This very stylish, handmade Japanese lacquer cocktail set is a superb decorative object.

It is completely made from wood, and this delicate set is a rare survivor in this lovely condition.
The six stemmed cups are hand turned in strong hardwood and have been beautifully finished in black lacquer. They each have a gilt interior and are decorated at the front with a cockerel sitting in a Prunus tree hand painted in raised gold and red polychrome.

The matching cocktail shaker is a work of art. It is intricately and finely hand turned in three sections with wooden screw thread fittings. It is finished in black lacquer with a matching cockerel and prunus tree design.
This eyecatching set is brought together with its own matching tray.

Each piece is marked on the underside in hand painted gold, Made in Japan.

All of the pieces are in very good condition. The tray shows slight sunlight blemishes where the pieces have stood over the years.
