Description

This very stylish pair of Regency bookends would complement any shelf or desk. They have been made in the form of harvest wheat sheaves cast with fine detail in plaster, strengthened on a wired frame and mounted and displayed on moulded wooden plinths.

These distinctive bookends have a lovely mellow gilt finish which displays lots of age related patina.
The flat edges, which support the books, still retain their original greenish blue velvet lining, which extends to cover the underside of the bases.

These unusual bookends have survived in good condition with a few very minor age related imperfections and well patinated gilt finish.

Perfect for bibliophiles and home decorators.

English, circa 1820

Height 15cm x width 16cm x depth 7cm
