Description

A watercolour with pen and ink by John Foster, 1918, after George Walker ‘The Costume of Yorkshire 'Alum works' / George Walker, 1814’. The Walker work in 1814 was engraved by R. Havell after G. Walker, pub. April 1, 1814 and published by Robinson & Son, Leeds. It is signed bottom right “J.F 1918” and marked verso, : “Alum works” from the Costume of Yorkshire” by G W Walker 1814 by John Foster, 1918.”

The alum works were near Whitby in North Yorkshire.

Housed in its original frame under glass.
