Description

A superb early 20th century model racing scull made by William Phelps of the famous boat making family of London. The model has been in the same family since October 1904 and was presented to a family member by William Phelps on October 14th of that year. The model is exquisitely made, down to the tiny wheels for the seat.

The Phelps family were well known boat-builders at Fulham and Putney, Royal Watermen, Bargemen to the Livery Companies and ten of them winners of the Doggett's Coat and Badge. The Phelps family still have strong rowing connections today.

The scull is beautifully modeled, as might be expected from a member of a well known boat building family, and the case, glass and model are all in original condition.

Measuring Case 77cm wide, 23 cm high, 10 cm deep.
