Rare George V toleware leaflet holder

Description

An exceptionally rare surviving example of a George V toleware leaflet holder in the original paint. The gold lettering to the top indicates “Please Take One” and the Royal crest adorns the front. The holder is believed to be associated with the King George V’s coronation in June 1911, perhaps being on hand with information for guests. The condition is very good, with some slight but not significant paint loss.

George V reigned from May 1910 to January 1936 and was the grandson of Queen Victoria taking the throne when his father, Edward VII died.

The piece now makes an excellent country house letter rack. A truly rare piece.
