Description

This is a most impressive pair of hand carved gilt wood console tables dating from the late 19th century circa 1890. The fabulous tables have a fine pair of griffin like creatures, one either end majestically supporting the substantial rouge marble tops. The exuberant style of the tables suggests an Irish origin, most likely from a grand hall. The Italian rouge marble surface has a most attractive colour and is wonderfully figured and in excellent order. The tables are a great size for a large hallway or a fine pair of alcove tables for a grand house measuring 120 cms wide, 94 cms high and 35 cms deep overall, the marble being 32 cms in depth.
