Description

This is a good hand painted Japanese Meiji period Satsuma ware bowl on stand in excellent condition dating from around 1870. The bowl is profusely decorated with panels of geisha in traditional gowns seated and in front of a beautiful mountain and lakeside scene. Children are also depicted in traditional robes as well as seated sage studying scrolls. The gilding is superb throughout the piece with unusually no wear or rubbing and the piece is in excellent condition with no damage or restoration. It is raised on the original hand carved hardwood stand.

The bowl measures 6 cms in height by 13 cms in diameter with the stand raising it to 9 cms in height overall.
