Dixon’s Sunderland Lustre Jug Circa 1830

Description

This is a early 19th century Sunderland lustre jug by A.Dixon, Austin & co dating from around 1830. The jug is in perfect condition with no damage or restoration. This is hand painted in the typical pink lustre with transfer printed Farmers Arms design hand coloured to one side with rural scenes and “God Speed The Plough” above the manufacturers cartouch. The jug is inscribed F.L.Breckon beneath the spout and has the motto “Have communion with few, be familiar with one Deal justly to all, Speak evil of none” transfer printed to the reverse.

This is an excellent example that measures 15 cms high by 15 cms in diameter, (20 cms wide from spout to handle).
