This box crafted by R. Was – box-maker to the Prince Regent. Richly covered in deep-toned leather with gilt accents, this piece is a testament to the refined artistry of early 19th-century England.
Inside, a charming hand-painted scene depicts a classical lady entrusting a love letter to her loyal dog—an enchanting vignette full of whimsy and romance. Thoughtfully designed, the interior features compartments for sewing paraphernalia and a discreet bottom drawer for larger items. Gilt drop-ring handles and gilt feet add a luxurious finishing touch.
