Description

A quite spectacular Victorian twin pedestal dressing table veneered in dramatically wild grained olivewood. Olivewood is similar in appearance and colour to burr walnut, but with even more decorative grain patterns. The superstructure of this dressing table has a central adjustable mirror with broken architectural pediment flanked by an an arrangement of jewellery drawers and mirror panels with turned columns and finials, raised on a nine drawer kneehole base. The drawers are mahogany lined with fine hand-cut dovetail joints and Hobbes & Co. locks, graduated from top to bottom in height, of particularly good depth, and have projected mouldings to their edges and their original chased brass drop handles. Of the highest quality throughout.

Condition and Details of Restoration
This dressing table is in untouched original structural condition and is completely sound. The polish has been revived, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. As ever with items of this age, there are minor marks under the polish, though all extremely minor we feel the photos are representative. The lock to the bottom right drawer has been replaced at some point.
