Triangular Rosewood & Inlaid Flap Table

Photos

Description

A quite superb late Victorian Sheraton Revival rosewood and marquetry inlaid flap table. The top, of triangular form when closed and a shallow clover leaf outline when open, is in beautifully wild grained rosewood (veneered on to dense straight grain mahogany for extra structural integrity) and features a marquetry inlaid central fan, along with masks, urns, and swags to each flap. The top is raised on three elegant turned column supports, united by an under-tier with finely detailed carved fretwork gallery, above shaped ‘kick-out’ feet with inlaid marquetry swags and original chased brass castors with brown china wheels.

Condition and Details of Restoration
This table is in original untouched structural condition. The polish has been revived, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. There are some minor old marks underneath the polish, as might be expected on an example of this age in our opinion, the photographs are representative.
