Description

A quite superb quality burr walnut toilet or dressing table mirror in the Queen Anne taste. The arch-shaped mirror is raised on twin turned supports, above a base of six oak lined drawers with brass drop handles and herringbone banding to the fronts. The ends of the base also have herringbone banding, and it is raised on ogee bracket feet. This mirror was made by a cabinet maker called E. C. Woodley, who won the bronze medal at the prestigious Regent Street Polytechnic cabinet making class for this item in 1925 (see accompanying documentation and medal).

Width 20" (51cm) Depth 11" (28cm) Height 31" (79cm)

Condition and Details of Restoration
This item is in original structural condition and is completely sound. The polish has been revived, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner. It shows some attractive signs of fading (particularly to the drawer fronts) and minor small marks as might be expected on an item of this age, but nothing unsightly in our opinion. The mirror plate is original and shows some signs of staining to the mercury silvered plate. We have left this in the interests of authenticity, but we would be happy to replace the mirror plate should you prefer.
