Description

Chinese porcelain Doucai trumpet vase. 6 character Qianlong mark (1736 - 95) -and possibly of the period although may be later. Decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze green, red, yellow ie Doucai. Extremely fine painting and engraving - would have required a master potter and painter. Scene depicts 2 5-clawed iron red dragons cavorting amongst water foliage and flowers with waves and rocks - very detailed, even to the white enamel claws. A band of magic mushrooms scroll around the the lower band of plantain leaves. Bands of fine engraving, barely visible in photographs, complete the vase. The white band below the rim is engraved with key fret. Two further bands to the main body are finely engraved - one with scrolling lotus and the other with overlapping chevrons.
Condition: excellent apart from one small rim chip.
Size: height 19cm
