Description

We have for sale an attractive Regency period Spode porcelain bute shaped cup and saucer derived from the Geoffrey Fisk collection.

This gilded cup and saucer, c1810, is attractively decorated with transfer printed landscape scenes of a Castle and moat to the cup and a bridge over a river with a castle and mountains in the background to the saucer on a white ground. The cup carries to its base a sticker indicating it was derived from the Geoffrey Fisk collection and the base of the saucer is marked with the pattern number 557.

The saucer is 5.5 inches (14cm) in diameter, the cup is 3.25 inches (8.25cm) in diameter excluding the handle and the cup is 2.25 inches (5.7cm) high. The cup and saucer are both in a good antique condition, although there is some wear to the gilt and the foot rim of the saucer has a couple of minor chips.

Provenance
The Geoffrey collection of Spode and other ceramics was sold at auction in 2000 by Phillips, Son and Neale of London, see "The Geoffrey Fisk Collection of Spode and other English ceramics", auction catalogue 2000.
