Description

We have for sale a large Donald B Crossley (1932-2014) watercolour titled "Snow Under the Walls" c1986.

This lovely Yorkshire watercolour painting depicts an old derelict farm "Rastrick Crene" and sheep at Gorple, Calderdale in winter with as the name suggests drifted snow piled up against the walls. We believe theold farm is actually located to the South East of Gorple Reservoir. The painting is signed by the artist to the bottom right and carries an exhibition sticker to the reverse for the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour for 1986, with an explanatory note indicating that the painting was not excepted for the Spring 1986 exhibition so had been in and out of the RI twice, implying that the painting was was re-submitted. The painting is mounted on the original parchment coloured mount and is presented in the original frame.

The painting is (47.5cm) wide and (27cm) excluding the frame and mount. The painting is in an excellent condition as is the original frame and the mount, although the mount does have one small fox mark to the centre top.
