1920s Oversize Woodgrain Diamond Nib Fountain Pen

Description

We have for sale a very attractive 1920s woodgrain effect fountain pen made by the prolific early 20th century American manufacturer National Pen Products.

This oversized flat top brown and black woodgrain effect lever filler fountain pen is formed from high grade celluloid and fitted with a 14kt warranted size 8 nib and a gold filled clip engraved with the typical mid to late 1920s National Pen Products leafy branch and flower. The barrel of the pen is inscribed with the logo The "Dependable" Pen.

Other than some slight surface wear and some slight brassing, the pen is in a very good to excellent condition having been dismantled, cleaned, reassembled and fitted with a new size 22 sac. The pen fills easily and for my hand writes smoothly via the very good to excellent original medium to fine 14kt nib. This pen is 5.5 inches (14cm)long.

National Pen Products
A Chicago based company, National Pen Products was a manufacturer of mid to high grade pens including the Lincoln, Jefferson, Gold Bond, Gold Medal and Gold Crown brands. Many of the National Pen Product Pens were made exclusively for Sears (Roebuck & Company) the US chain of department stores. There is some evidence suggesting that the Gold Medal brand was eventually sold to Parker.
