We have for sale a set of pen and watercolour paintings of landmark scenes around Calderdale, West Yorkshire by the excellent local contemporary artist Ernest Boughton.

These small pen and watercolour paintings are beautifully executed and depict Old Packhorrse Bridge - Hebden Bridge, White Chapel Church - Kirklees, Parkin Hall lane - Hartshead - Kirklees and Oakwell Hall - Birstall - Kirklees. Each picture carries a label to the reverse detailing its subject matter. The paintings are each about 7.9 inches 8 inches (20cm) high and 8.8 inches (25cm) wide including the frame. They are all in an excellent condition.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
The Yorkshire based contemporary artist Ernest Boughton has been painting in Yorkshire for over three decades. He became a member of the Brighouse Art Circle approximately 36 years ago and has exhibited frequently at the annual art exhibition at The Smith Gallery and Library in Brighouse.

The Brighouse Art Circle was founded in 1949 by a group of mostly professional Yorkshire artists. Members over the years have included the 1st World War official war artist Albert T Pile, Herbert Dodding and Harold Lyle, both members of the Royal Society and Stanley Chapman to name but a few. The society is still very active and the annual art exhibition at The Smith Gallery still draws a crowd.
