Description

We have for sale a very attractive pair of large Regency Derby porcelain dessert dishes.

The dishes are of lobed lozenge form decorated in gilt and Imari colours in a variation of the Derby Old Japan pattern. The reverse of each dish carries the red Dewsbury mark dating to around 1810.

The dishes are approximately (28.5cm) long and (21.5cm) wide and are both in a very good condition with only light wear to the decoration and the gilt and no chips cracks or repairs. However, both dishes show some craqueler, some areas of light staining typical of Derby porcelain of the period and one dish does seem to have a small over-painted firing fault in an upper medial location to the left hand side of the rim (see the second photograph).
