Description

We have for sale a substantial arts and crafts copper tray by the excellent copper smith Hugh Wallis of Altrincham, Cheshire.

This copper tray is of an oval form with a planished body and rope like rim. The tray carries the impressed Hugh Wallis mark.

Hugh wallis (1871 - 1943) was from a Quaker family, he studied at Herkomer Art School, Bushey, Hertfordshire (established in 1883 by Hubert von Herkomer), and exhibited 14 times at the Royal Academy. He established his own Altrincham workshop in 1900.

This large copper tray is approximately 15 inches (38cm) Long, and 11 inches (28cm) wide and is in a very good antique condition. The tray probably dates from around the Edwardian period.
