Description

We have for sale a lovely Old Derby lidded dish.

This Duesbury Derby shallow round dish probably formed a part of a dressing table set or inkstand and is beautifully decorated with hand painted roses and leaves surrounded by gilt crosshatching. The lid of the dish terminates in a very attractive gilded pine cone finial and the base of the dish carries the red crown, cross swords and D mark for 1805-1825.

The dish is approximately 3 and 1/4 inches (8.3cm) in diameter and is in a lovely antique condition, although there is a chip to the inside rim of the lid, the glaze carries some of the crazing one would expect in a piece Old Derby of this age and there is a small region of discoloration to the edge of the decoration of the lid
