We have for sale a lovely oil painting on canvas by the highly respected and ever popular early 20th Century artist Daniel Sherrin

This landscape oil painting on Canvas by Daniel Sherrin 1868-1942 depicts figures on a path by a pond. The painting is signed D Sherrin in the bottom left corner and carries the title Bletchford Common in pencil on the stretcher. The painting probably represents a scene from the countryside around Bletchworth in Surrey.

The painting measures 29 inches (73.6cm) by 19 inches (48.2cm) excluding the new faded gilt frame and other than some cracqelure is in an excellent antique condition having just returned from our LAPADA accredited restorer.

About the Artist
Daniel Sherrin was an early 19th English Artist born in 1868 in Brentwood to the artist John Sherrin. Daniel Sherrin was a pupil of the excellent landscape artist B.W Leader. He was primarily a landscape artist who is very well known for painting country scenes in Suffolk, Norfolk, Surrey and Hampshire. His output was often used as book illustrations, one of his works “In the Highlands” featured in the book “Highways and byways from a motor car, by Thomas D Murphey. Daniel Sherrin contributed to the war effort during the 1st World War by designing recruitment posters, and was also commissioned to paint Sandringham by King George V. The painting still hangs in Buckingham Palace. His works are either signed D Sherrin or occasionally L Richards or Horace Gallon.
