Description

We have for sale a late 19th century or early 20th century brass Medina fish

The fish is of a typical form consisting of a head complete with red eyes, a broad smile and pectoral fins. The Head extends to an articulated body, which in turn extends to a solid brass tail.

The name of these fish is derived from the SS Medina, which was sunk by torpedoes in 1917. The wreck was salvaged in 1986 and 6 brass articulated fish were recovered in a box belonging to the ex governor of Calcutta, Lord Carmichael.

This fish is 8 & 1/2 inches (21.6cm) long and is in a good antique condition
