Description

An oak and mahogany 30hour longcase clock by William Snow of Padside (Yorkshire) Circa 1780.

This very fine clock has some features one would expect from this prolific maker. The skeletonised plates of the movement are common by this maker and is in very good condition. The case is of very fine proportions and features cross grained corner columns to the trunk, stained green mask surrounding the dial, blacksmith made hinges which only allow the door to open ninety degrees and attractive fretted freeze to the hood and trunk top.

The dial was surplied to snow by the fine Birmingham maker Osbourne and has attractive strawberry corners . Steel hands are original to the clock .

To sum up this is very fine collectable mid 18th century provincial clock .
