Description
Norman wardrobe in bleached oak decorated with roses, lilacs, daisies, cords, foliage, acanthus leaves, stylized volutes throughout the entire wardrobe. In the upper part, the cornice is carved with gadroons and inverted volutes, it rests on a crosspiece adorned with a central bouquet in high relief representing the quiver and the flaming torch, above applied the two doves representing "love" are topped with an openwork wreath of flowers, as an extension of the bouquet, on each side of the roses and leaves. The high rails of the doors have floral bouquets, the central frame is carved in the upper part of a descent of flowers in high relief. In the center of each side, the two medallions: on the left, the attributes of fishing are represented by the fouëne, the trap, the hook, the landing net, the oar, the fish. On the right the medallion is with the attributes of the hunt: the basket with its own for waterfowl, the horn and the hunting rifle, the harpoon, the medieval spear or spear traditionally used for hunting wild boars, the hare and the partridge for small plains game, the water gourd, the earthen bottle. the two attributes are accompanied by garlands of roses, a row of pearls, gadroons and a ribbon bow. The bouquet in the center of the low crosspiece is in high relief, it bears the attributes of the music. The rounded uprights are carved with palmettes and flowers, they end in snail feet decorated with acanthus leaves. Rare Norman cabinet representing the furniture heritage of the Pays de Caux and more precisely the surroundings of Fécamp, it shows us the effervescence and importance of marriage at the beginning of the 19th century. Note the restorations on the two door bouquets and the lack of a small shim with facings at the bottom under the foot.Width : 146
