Sn4961 Superb quality Victorian Howard and Sons mahogany sideboard, having figured mahogany top above shallow, panelled frieze and a pair of figured mahogany panelled doors, fitted with original working lock and a key and enclosing height adjustable shelf, all flanked by moulded pilasters and bowed open sections with polished shelves, all standing on moulded plinth base. This antique cabinet is stamped Howards & Sons Berners St and it also bears Howard & Sons label. The cabinet is in outstanding original condition, retaining original finish and patina. Ready to place at home. c1880

Established in 1820 by John Howard. Trading at 24 Lemon St, London, as a ‘Cabinet Manufacturer’ . In 1832 they moved to 34 Great Alie St where they would stay, and open an upholstery workshop / showroom. After that, the firm traded from multiple addresses across central London,

The firm is best known for its exceptional quality upholstered furniture, cabinet making and wall and floor coverings.

In 1872 they relocated to their most known address, Berners Street, and flourished. Winning awards at multiple exhibitions including the 1862 International Exhibition and the 1900 Exposition Universelle in PARIS.

Howard and Sons worked for exclusive clients throughout the 19th and early 20th century, and boasted Royal patronage. They have become one of the best known and highly sought after names in Victorian era furniture.

We work closely with a professional antiques couriers, who have years of experience handling antique furniture. We ensure they know all the relevant details about each item they transport, and can promise you that they are brilliant at their job.

If you’re worried about receiving your furniture and setting it down without damage your end, we also offer a two man delivery service. This guarantees its protection from the moment it leaves us, right up until is it proudly in its place at home.

For our global customers, we offer a secure and insured air & sea freight shipping service. The greatest care must be taken when transporting antiques long distance, so we use a trusted company who have been delivering our antiques safely for years. All you have to do it let us know your address and we will obtain a quote for you.

Of course you can organise your own courier service if that suits you better, though we must emphasise that we can not take any responsibility for the item once it leaves our premises. If you wish to take this option, please let us know at the time of purchase.

Alternatively, you are more than welcome to come and collect your purchase in person. We love to see our antiques leave us in the safe hands of their new owners, though again we must mention that you will be taking responsibility for any ensued damage once it leaves our premises.

Returns
If for some unlikely reason you are not happy with your purchase, we offer a full refund policy. We only ask that you inform us by telephone or email within 48 hours of receiving your package, if you wish to return it. We will then arrange a courier to come and collect it, the cost of which will be deducted from your refund. The furniture must arrive back to us in the same condition that it left us.

We deem this to be an unlikely situation though and anticipate that you will be as delighted with your purchase as we are in seeing it safely sent to a new home.
