Description

An exceptionally rare lignum pipe of unusual form. The perforated top with finial and ring turned decoration removes to reveal the tobacco chamber which in turn removes to reveal a smoke tube which travels up to the mouth piece and presumably gives access to cleaning. The thread borne mouthpiece is a sympathetic period replacement. In good condition and richly patinated. Circa 1800. The wooden body is 15.5 cm long excluding the mouthpiece.
