Description

The upper astragal doors are beautifully detailed and enhanced with boxwood stringing. These doors have a crossbanded border retaining the original glass and enclosing two adjustable shelves. The lower section encloses six minor drawers and pigeon holes. Beneath this is an extending writing surface with a gold tooled green leather inset on the hinged reading surface.

There are also two drawers in the frieze beneath which is a tambour shuttered cupboard. This Hepplewhite piece is raised upon square tapered legs terminating in brass castors. Overall this is a delightful piece of furniture of elegance and simple design in a good light mellow colour.
