Very Small Triple Pad-Top Fusee Bracket Timepiece


Description
A very attractive and good quality early 20th century mantel or table clock.The very substantial, 8 day duration, chain fusee timepiece movement with Anchor Recoil escapement and upper operated micrometer pendulum regulation.
Behind only a 4 3/4" wide, break-arch brass dial with gilded, cast brass, winged cherub corner spandrels and 'punch' arch spandrels. The arch having a silvered brass circular cartouche bearing "Tempus Fugit" with a floral border and the silvered brass chapter ring has small, outer Arabic 5's, a divided minute track and inner Roman hour numerals with diamond half hour divisions. The centre is finely matted and the steel hands are matching 'pike head'.
Contained in an excellent quality mahogany case. The break-arch top has 3 double-raised mahogany pads, the centre of which bears a cast brass, swinging carrying handle. The double-returned top moulding is to all 4 sides and sits over the front and rear full-size, glazed doors. Directly below is the short and conforming, plinth with a moulded top and 4, cast brass 'Ogee' splayed feet. The case sides have high rectangular glazed apertures with moulded edges. The lower front door rail has an engraved brass plaque which bears:
"Presented to H. J. TROTTER ESQ. BY HEAD OFFICE STAFF OF THE LATE LONDON & BRAZILIAN BANK AS A MARK OF HIGH ESTEEM AND REGARD ON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 31 YEARS SERVICE.

ConditionThe movement is very dirty but working and doesn't appear to have any signs of wear however, it would greatly benefit from a complete overhaul.
The case is very slightly sunlight faded but is still of good colour and patina. There are slight knocks to the polish here and there.
The dial is very good.
