Description

Displaying the style and quality of the Cotswold School of Gimson and the Barnsleys, this Arts & Crafts oak cabinet dates from the early 20th century. The front of the doors and drawer have fielded panels and the four wooden handles are shaped and dimpled. There are rows of exposed, chunky dovetails where the top and bottom meet the sides of the cabinet and through-tenons at the side. The top edge of the base is moulded and the aprons to the front, sides and rear are all shaped. The legs are united by two chamfered side stretchers, which are themselves through-tenoned by another two stretchers. The rear is also panelled.
