A highly decorative early 20th Century antique gilt and marble top console table in the George II style, having the original rectangular dark green marble top above a frieze with decorative raised scroll moulding, supported by a naturalistically carved eagle with outstretched wings perched on a rockwork base and supported on a faux marble platform base with a moulded edge. In Roman mythology, the eagle was a companion to Jupiter, symbolizing power, protection, and authority. Circa 1920.45 1/4" x 18 1/2" x 35 3/5" high
