Lucian Linnell Vintage

Description

A vintage cabinet, most likely dating from the 1930s-50s, manufactured by Kingsley of Bridgwater in Somerset. Made in the style of Lloyd Loom, the cabinet has original dusky pink paint with gold accents.
The Lloyd Loom process was invented in 1917 in the US, with British rights owned from 1920 by William Lusty. The unique fabric was made with paper twisted around a wire, and became extremely popular in the 1930s. Kingsley was an 'art furniture' manufacturer with a basket weaving workshop, and this cabinet is very similar to mid century Lloyd Loom cabinets , featuring a lovely and unusual metal fastening. It would make a charming bedside or bathroom cabinet, or as a display in a garden room.

The cabinet is in overall very good condition, with attractive wear. As the pink paint is original, the threads are separate and not painted together. Remains of the Kingsley maker's label is on the base. It has been carefully cleaned. There is some wear to the paint, particularly on the top (see last picture).
