Description

A genuine Lloyd Loom chair, dated Jan 1934, with original old gold paint. The Lloyd Loom process was invented in 1917 in the US, with British rights owned from 1920 by William Lusty. The unique fabric was made with paper twisted around a wire, and became extremely popular in the 1930s. This is a rare early survivor in very good, original condition. The paint colour is a muted gold, although on much of the chair it has faded to a medium brown. It would look fabulous in a garden room surrounded by plants

This chair is very comfortable and sturdy, and in overall very good condition. As the gold paint is original, the threads are separate and not painted together. There is some wear to the paint on the arms and marks and scuffs to the painted legs. One string is broken on the left arm (see last picture).
