Description

This beautiful bedside cabinet / nightstand was designed by Peter Hayward for Uniflex in 1959. The cabinet is veneered in sapele wood and walnut, with a lovely chevron pattern on the top drawer which almost looks 3-dimensional and gives it its Art Deco feel. The elegant knobs are brass. The cabinet has a cupboard with an internal shelf, and a drawer with dovetail joints.

Dimensions: Height 61cm, Width 37.5cm, Depth 34.5cm.

The unit has been restored with the wood taken back to bare, oiled and finished with protective wax. The brass has been cleaned and one small patch of veneer on one side has been replaced (see last picture). Other than that, the piece has minimal signs of use and is in very good vintage condition. 'Uniflex' is stamped inside the cupboard door.
