This gilt picture frame early 1800s or possibly even earlier is in great condition, some very minor chips on the corners but thats it. It is very heavy and the gesso is layed upon oak, most rare as it is normally pine. This good sized frame 26 wide by 30.5ins high or the other way if used as landscape. A frame of this quality does not come available very often and deserves a good painting to be housed in it. The rebate is 17.25 ins by a fraction under 21.25ins. An original gilt picture frame with some of the best and most crisp detailing in the gesso that we have seen outside a museum or stately home for a long time. Its a bit special this one............RESERVED............
