This is an antique writer's desk. An English, mahogany side or serving table, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1800.

Of superb proportion and fine presentation
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Select stocks show fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Decorated with quality boxwood inlays and stringing

Generous width to the top, with an appealing tiered edge
Front fascia hosting two drawers, with a flying centre drawer
Each dressed with ornate brass drop handles over pierced foliate backplates
Pleated quarterfoil carvings adorn the shoulders to either side

Usefully high at 84.5cm (33.25") for the taller person
Each corner hosts dashing turned balusters over cupped knees
Stout block legs taper to a square section foot
