Description

A very fine quality clock by Joseph M French, Royal Exchange, London. The clock is Rosewood with gilt brass inlay. The case has a gilt pineapple finial on a chamfered top pediment above a scroll inlaid case with brass canted corners and lion mask loop handles.

The clock has a hinged brass locking bezel with bevelled convex glass enclosing an 8" silvered engraved dial with Roman numerals and strike/silent lever above the XII. It has an 8 day chain driven fusee movement striking and repeating the hour on a bell. The backplate is signed and with pendulum keep. 51 cm (20") high to the top of the finial.
