Description

This is a fabulous piece of exhibition memorabilia - a true antique from 1893 - at 120 years old, it is very interesting and has survived in good order - the small coin purse which measures 2.58" inch (6.7cm) x 2" inch (5.2cm) has a ball clasp fastening to the top which is in good condition and snapping shut perfectly. Opening to a red 3 part interior. Two pieces of mother of pearl shell have been used to the outside and a transfer print applied depictin Christopher Columbus. The print shows age. The Chicago World's Fair held in 1893 was hailed to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus arrival in the "New World" in 1492. The mother of pearl remains intact to the red material cover. A lovely antique piece that I am sure will find its way to an appreciative buyer.
