Description

Superb! Highly collectable powder compact by Gwenda, made in commemoration of the British Empire Exhibition of 1938 in Glasgow - iconically art deco shape, its octagonal form is set to chrome, with a wonderful picture set beneath clear celluloid cover, using a foil technique to immitate butterfly wings, very popular during the period. The back is a black enamel. Measuring c. 2.1/4" inch diameter all clasps and hinges are in good order, opening to reveal a nice clear high polish chrome mirror, the original fitted sifter and tartan puff - lovely and in the best of vintage condition, this little beauty is sure to delight!.
