Stunning! - This is an unusual Austrian Silver & Enamel Compact - The top cover has beautiful pierced floral work with a wonderful Exotic, Bird of Paradise set within the patternation, gorgeous enamel work, measuring c. 2" inch diameter, all clasps and hinges are in good order, opening to reveal a nice clean interior which was originally gilded - the bevelled mirror is in good condition showing only very minor signs commensurate with age. The base is black enamel, whilst impossible to date, the top silver pierced work and enamelling is very typical of late Victorian early 1900's - overall it is a very pretty piece with a lovely theme that I have not seen before and is sure to delight the most discerning of collectors!
