Fabulous Art Deco example of the wonderful butterfly brooches produced by Thomas Mott of England - this is a gorgeous piece, beautifully set to a solid silver bar brooch - measuring c. 2.1/4" inch long, it is appropriately signed to the rear. The oval exotic paradise scene is typical of the era, reverse painted to the clear glass oval cover. Very nice this little beauty is in the finest of order and will delight the most discerning of collectors.

Thomas Mott (TLM) exhibited his beautiful reversepainted butterfly wing jewellery at the British Empire Exhibition of 1924. His company was the largest producer of butterfly wing jewelry in the 1920"s/1930"s. Becoming a favourite accessory of the Art Deco period, these pieces are now becoming highly sought after and collected.
