Description

This is a rare & special find, a very early Elgin American (made in America) powder compact, dating c. 1930's - it is in lovely vintage condition, the simple oval box shape is covered in a pale blue enamel and to the top is painted an array of water lillies with a water bug or ant - all clasps and hinges are in good order, opening to reveal a nice oval mirror which has a delightful water lily to the right hand corner, which is most unusual. An Elgin American oval puff and sifter are present and it is stamped internally with the EA trademark. Measuring 3" inch wide x 2" inch on the oval - Just delightful and I have certainly not seen this before in 25+ years of collecting and dealing - there are a couple of enamel (very minor) loss areas, to be expected and commensurate with age - a gorgeous piece sure to delight!.
