Description

An early 18th century English lantern clock of small proportions. A brass case with a silvered chapter ring and a matted dial centre. An anchor escapement, rope driven 'birdcage' design mechanism. Nicely finished steel work to the mechanism. Brass opening side doors and a fixed brass backplate. A bell strap surmounted by a brass finial. The original hook and spike to the case back. A 30 hour duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell on a shorter pendulum. Circa 1725.
